Beyond the Paddle: Why We Started a Multi-Day Kayak Tour

For years, the idea of leading a multi-day kayaking trip has been tugging at me. As someone who loves the rhythm of life on the water, paddling by day and camping under the stars by night, I wanted to create an opportunity for others to experience that same sense of freedom and connection. And so, the Suwannee River multi-day paddle was born.

Why a Multi-Day Tour?

Many people love the idea of a kayaking trip but hesitate when it comes to the logistics. How do you pack a kayak for multiple days? What gear do you really need? How do you even begin? These questions can feel like barriers for first-timers. By offering a guided experience, we remove those hurdles.

With a trip like this, paddlers don’t have to go it alone. Instead, they’re supported by guides who not only handle logistics but also teach along the way. Even experienced paddlers benefit. There’s always something new to learn when you’re on the water with skilled instructors.

More Than Scenery: Building Skills

This trip isn’t just about drifting along the Suwannee’s beautiful stretches (though that’s certainly part of the magic). We designed it as a blend of experience and skills-building. Together with fellow ACA Level 4 kayak instructor Anthony, we’ll be offering optional lessons throughout the journey.

  • Beginners can learn the essentials in real-time, gaining confidence with every mile.

  • Experienced paddlers can refine technique, learn advanced strokes, or explore the nuances of kayak camping.

Kayak resue skills

We’ll even dive into the practical side of expedition paddling with tasks like how to plan meals, pack efficiently, and set up camp, so participants can eventually take on their own adventures with confidence.

Why the Suwannee?

The Suwannee River is truly special. The section we’ve chosen is ideal for all skill levels, making it welcoming for beginners while still rewarding for seasoned paddlers. Along the way, we’ll explore the river’s many freshwater springs—swimming, snorkeling, and simply soaking in the wonder of Florida’s natural heritage.

Sunset on the Suwannee River

At night, we’ll camp under the stars, sharing stories, meals, and laughter. It’s about community as much as it is about paddling.

What We Hope You Take Away

At the end of the trip, we want participants to leave with more than just great memories. Our hope is that you’ll carry away:

  • Awe and appreciation for the beauty and history of the Suwannee.

  • Greater confidence in your paddling and outdoor skills.

  • A sense of empowerment and the feeling of “I can do this myself.”

Of course, you’ll also leave with new friendships and plenty of stories to tell.

An Invitation

If you’ve ever dreamed of a multi-day kayak trip but weren’t sure where to start, this is your chance. The Suwannee River paddle is designed to make adventure accessible, fun, and meaningful. All you need is a love for the outdoors and a willingness to sleep under the stars.

Because once you’ve experienced the magic of the Suwannee, you’ll never look at kayaking or Florida the same way again.

Emerald Cut Kayak Adventure

This crystal clear run is a paddle into the past, through land still as it was when the Timucuan tribes inhabited the area. Truly emerald in color this section of Rock Springs Run is a breathtaking natural beauty. It winds through lush jungle-like nature, sand pine scrub, and pine flatwoods. The area is rich in wildlife and it is possible to see turtles, alligators, river otters, white-tailed deer, black bears, fish, a variety of birds, and more.

This is an out-and-back paddle. The first part your guide will lead you upstream over and under trees and through the twists and turns of the river until you reach the bridge at Kelle Park. At this point, you will have a chance to jump into the crystal clear river to play and/or to refresh yourself. Afterward, we let the current take us back to the launch point.
